This script was written as an appendix to a masters thesis on climate crisis heritage, and proposes additions to the existing tour that introduce the climate crisis history of the building and its owner.

Lowell was one of the United States’ first industrial cities. In consultation with Supervisory Park Ranger Jamie Smith and her staff, CCHP guided an internal conversation to frame climate history within Lowell’s education programing, and drafted a historic context statement that connects LNHP to the history of the climate crisis. This document provides a source of alignment for staff who are using this research to revise a school field trip program. The new program will be tested in spring 2023.
